Vegan Permaculture

Post by LizziM » Thu Sep 08, 2016 8:34 pm

Hello DT Family!

I am looking for resources or information to learn Vegan Permaculture and specifically Food Forest Restoration, or more accurately, deepening in knowledge in line with AJ's Creating Loving Ecosystems teachings several years ago. I'd like to get started but not sure how, and desire more skills and practical knowledge beyond the spiritual principles. So thought I'd reach out here as one action to take.

I'd love to be a part of helping restore a "Garden of Eden" where we can all live and forage.

If anyone has had any success or educational information they can share, I would be so grateful!

Thank you so much in advance!

Liz

Hey Liz,

Beautifying and restoring land and growing things is a passion for myself as well, and I'm a newbie too as I've just done some basic veggie and flower gardening and also sprouting so far in the last couple years. I would love to learn more how it all would work in harmony with love--ie. would you even need (vegan) fertilizers? Or is all that unnecessary when emotions are worked through that would affect the thriving of plants?

I did think to link you to the "Creating Loving Eco Systems" series Jesus did in case you haven't seen them:

Creating Loving Eco Systems - An Introduction S1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndtLmM20hH4

Creating Loving Eco Systems - An Introduction S2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7kJrBx5jrY

I've been told Jesus has mentioned a man named Geoff Lawton who is a permaculturist. I just found out about this guy so haven't done much research into his approaches yet, but could be worth some googling.

Hi Ladies
Geoff Lawton has done some work on what he calls "Food Forests". I found his video very interesting and inspiring. I just googled him (geoff lawton food forest) on my phone and there were youtube links that you could have a look at as well as some webpages to read.
His method is what I think I would like to try if I get the opportunity.

Thanks guys!

This is a very delayed response. I realize I wrote one and then never posted it. I have also now changed my email settings to get notifications when there are replies to my posts. But thanks so much for your input!

Yes, I have listened to/watched Creating Loving Ecosystems several times. So beautiful, I think about it often and look forward to living it asap.

Geoff Lawton is so awesome. I have been a student of his for several years. I get his newsletter every week and have watched almost all of his videos. I have not taken a live class from him but he recently offered an online one that is in progress, and plans to offer more in the future to make it easy for long distance learners.

Geoff is not vegan and I am unsure of his take on it. He did make a teasing comment about veganism once which led me to think he is not for it. And at PRI, the Permaculture Research Institute in Queensland, their apprenticeship consists of animal husbandry. I wrote Geoff this past year about vegan permaculture apprenticeship opportunities but did not receive a response.

Geoff is a very prolific teacher who shares a lot of material and makes as much of it free or low cost as possible. He is one of, if not the, world expert in Permaculture. His childlike enthusiasm that comes through when he teaches is incredibly inspiring. I really appreciate all that he shares and recommend him as a teacher very much.

The only Permaculture apprenticeship I have found that is vegan is in Kentucky at the Wild Earth Farm & Sanctuary. I live in California, however and was looking for local possibilities or online learning.

If anyone comes across anything, please let me know!

Thank you!

Liz
