What is facade?

Post by Pam » Sat Aug 29, 2015 4:34 am

is the facade wearing other mask. Like trying to fit into different groups of people? Like for example in a non Christian setting one might curse and act like the group while at church act like the people at church etc But not ever really being yourself?

You can think of the facade as the "self" that is constructed to represent you to other people (or even to yourself) in a way that hides the parts of yourself that you are afraid of revealing because you feel they won't be accepted, or that you don't accept. So yes, it can work like you say.

Here's a really good presentation that puts the facade into context. It's one of the more important key bits of what AJ teaches to help understand what's going on within us emotionally. I've set the link to start where this part begins, but you could back up and watch the whole thing too.

Thanks Amanda. I will check out the videos later. It is 2 am in the morning here and if I don't go to bed soon I won't make it to church in the morning. I'll end up sleeping in instead of going to church.
