Was just watching Perry & Nicky's new video on physical addictions and had the thought about this country song about alcohol that I haven't heard in a while but is a good one:

"Nobody Drinks Alone" by Keith Urban

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfegQqeq4wI

Lyrics:

You brought that bottle home in a paper sack
Drew the blinds and locked the doors
And there's nothing but empty there inside that glass
So you pour a little more
And there's no one there to judge you
At least that's what you tell yourself, but

Don't you know
Nobody drinks alone
Every demon, every ghost
From your past
And every memory you've held back
Follows you home
Nobody drinks alone

You remember whiskey on your daddy's breath
So you always stick to wine
And you scared your little brother half to death
You just kept it all inside
You can hear your mama cryin'
Only now she cries for you, and

Don't you know
Nobody drinks alone
Every demon, every ghost
From your past
And every memory you've held back
Follows you home
Nobody drinks alone

Though you're lonely
Hey don't you let that feelin' fool ya

Wow great song. The lyrics hit me and made me cry, because I have been there so many times (for years) in the past. Drinking and drinking to drown my sorrows. I started drinking when I was around 14 years old. I started working in bars at 16 years old. I drank through college and one day drank in the morning before college, I remember that day, I was so lost and hurting. From 18 to 29 I worked as bartender and so I was drunk most nights and if not drunk then I would be having a few drinks. I quit the bars at 29. From 30 to 35 I drank a little, a couple of beers every couple of weeks, or wine at dinner, but never got drunk (some progression). For the last few years it has been very very rare to see me drink, a glass of champagne at weddings ect. My last alcoholic drink was at Christmas, I had a couple of glasses of mulled wine (feeling guilty and mad for betraying self )... but since then I've not touched a drop and don't have a desire too. These days I don't have to try and stop myself from drinking. When I see alcohol now I get this feeling which says to me 'Why would I drink that, its poison'...

I literally thank God and my guide now pretty much everyday for saving my life...

I did not knew this song but the lyrics sound really good to describe what alcohol really does to a person.

I drunk very few occasions of my life, mainly for the addiction to fit in the group but I never actually like it (now I am firm about not drinking but I still need to work on the investment with others), still I found this to be a great song.

I've been thinking lately of how or what sins are normalised or acceptable in society or our families or work places perhaps until they get out of hand then we are judged. So we don't really see them as sins at all so we will find it hard to have an "awakening" to our own sin.

The few people who do see the truth of sin have a lot to contend with.

Similair vibe, "you and your whisky, me and my heart undone, you say that you miss me I want to hear that from the sober one..........I know that you get lonely, I get lonely too. But you got this sadness that youve been holding onto."
