Hi
So very recently after working on some emotions, I have realised that I have a passion for poetry (of all things!) I have since come across a few poems written by the "gangsta" rapper Tupac which I connected to. Here are a couple below:
The Rose That Grew From Concrete
Did you hear about the rose that grew
from a crack in the concrete?
Proving nature's law is wrong it
learned to walk with out having feet.
Funny it seems, but by keeping its dreams,
it learned to breathe fresh air.
Long live the rose that grew from concrete
when no one else ever cared.
In The Event Of My Demise
In the event of my Demise
when my heart can beat no more
I Hope I Die For A Principle
or A Belief that I had Lived 4
I will die Before My Time
Because I feel the shadow's Depth
so much I wanted 2 accomplish
before I reached my Death
I have come 2 grips with the possibility
and wiped the last tear from My eyes
I Loved All who were Positive
In the event of my Demise
When Ure Hero Falls
when your hero falls from grace
all fairy tales r uncovered
myths exposed and pain magnified
the greatest pain discovered
u taught me 2 be strong
but im confused 2 c u so weak
u said never 2 give up
and it hurts 2 c u welcome defeat
when ure hero falls so do the stars
and so does the perception of tomorrow
without my hero there is only
me alone 2 deal with my sorrow
your heart ceases 2 work
and your soul is not happy at all
what r u expected 2 do
when ure only hero falls
Life
Why am I fighting to live,
If I am just living to fight
Why am I trying to see.
When there aint nothing in sight
Why am I trying to give,
When no one gives me a try
Why am I dying to live,
If I am just living to die?
Hope
Today is filled with anger, fuelled with hidden hate.
Scared of being outcast, afraid of common fate.
Today is build on tragedies which no one want's to face.
Nightmares to humanity and morally disgraced.
Tonight is filled with Rage, violence in the air.
Children bred with ruthlessness cause no one at home cares.
Tonight I lay my head down but the pressure never stops,
knowing that my sanity content when I'm dropped.
But tomorrow I see change, a chance to build a new,
build on spirit intent of heart and ideas based on truth.
Tomorrow I wake with second wind and strong because of pride.
I know I fought with all my heart to keep the dream alive.
Here are a few of Tupac's quotes that I have also connected to in a big way:
When I was alone, and had nothing
I asked for a friend to help me bear the pain
No one came, except God
When I needed a breath to rise, from my sleep
No one could help me.. except God
When all I saw was sadness, and I needed answers
No one heard me, except God
So when I'm asked.. who I give my unconditional love to?
I look for no other name, except God
No matter what these people say about me, my music doesn't glorify any image. My music is spiritual when you listen to it. It's all about emotion, I tell my innermost, darkest secrets.
Don't believe everything you hear: Real eyes, Realize, Real lies
Everybody's at war with different things...I'm at war with my own heart sometimes.
During your life, never stop dreaming. No one can take away your dreams
If God wanted me to be quiet he would’ve never showed me what he does.
How many caskets can we witness before we see it's hard
To live this life without God, so we must ask forgiveness
I know it seems hard sometimes but remember one thing. Through every dark night, there's a bright day after that. So no matter how hard it get, stick your chest out, keep ya head up
Maybe there's more to this guy than meets the eye, hey? Enjoy!
Nicky

Nicky, thank you for these awesome quotes. I really have enjoyed 2pac's music.
I personally enjoy Changes, he says a lot of beautiful and enlightening things about how to treat one another, and I also have always loved Me and My Girlfriend; not the most loving song in the world, but I enjoy the beat and the style of metaphor.
