The help of nature

I have been taking long walks/hikes by myself in nature, usually for a few hours at a time, and I tend to go places that are pretty immersed in it and where I won't see a lot of other people. Being in this context and praying at the same time has been particularly powerful. I don't totally believe God is good through and through yet, and for me the beauty of nature triggers that truth a lot and gets me into grief pretty quickly. I usually hike with no music at all, but occasionally I'll bring my Ipod along and, at some point in the hike, stop and sit on a rock and put on some music that also helps me get into emotions, and listen to a few songs, and then go back to silent walking/hiking.

Sure Courtney
Nature !

For me sometimes help to watch pictures of beautiful places on earth and space.
That connects me with Gods creation and perfection, beauty, love and with God itself.
Thanks for sharing!

Nature also helps me as well. I love hearing water running. Hearing water flowing makes me feel close to God and I love the sound of a thunder storm. It makes me feel close to God's heart and safe in His arms.

I too find when outside in nature, it helps me connect more with the beauty of God's creation.

It's funny because when I was younger, I wasn't that much of an outdoors kind of person (walking/hiking) but over the last year or two, I am finding it more enjoyable and a really beneficial way to spend my time to promote some self-reflection.

Yes I should really be taking a walk right now inside of on the computer. I just got done working at Walmart and I sit all day instead of stand. I have medical permission to sit since I am not able to stand anymore to cashier.

Even though I love nature, I have been feeling more like a cave woman then an out door woman. Walmart is like being in the cave. No windows to see out side on less you work by the doors and when the electric goes out it is pretty dark inside Walmart. It is as dark as a cave.

A few years ago I was on register 1 and I was waiting on some customers and I saw a woman in a white ball room dress walk by me and fade away. I just about screamed when I saw this but I was able to hold back my scream. I didn't want to scare my customers or have them think I was loosing my mind. I blame my vision on being tired but I have since then been tired lots of times at Walmart and haven't seen any ghosts.

Once I fall asleep at church and I woke up. I was between wake and asleep and I saw a little black girl in a red Christmas dress praying at the altar. She was behind sister Molly and sister Molly was preaching up a storm. I wanted to yell don't you see her sister Molly? But I didn't. i don't remember seeing her fade away but I often wondered at who she was? Pastor Coal mention seeing God's chariot drove though the church would this be any more crazy then what I saw? I never said anything to anyone there.

There was this 102 year old black lady evangelist that preached there a couple of times. She promised to come back hold a fast and make a big pot of soup for breakfast but she never made it back. She went home to be with the Lord. Could the little girl be her? Would she come back as a child to pray for the church?

I love walking and praying. I should do this today before the sun goes down.

To me nature also is a source of coming in contact with myself and my feelings and connecting to God. My desire and the nourishment I get from being in nature is growing.

At the same time it feels harder and more disturbing to be in town with the high level of tempo and stress. It is a challenge to me to remain in contact with myself when I am in town and surrounded with a lot of people. It is an opportunity to explore and feel what it is evoking in myself that I sometimes miss and sometimes do explore. And of course, the times I remember to be in contact with myself and my feelings, I feel more genuine and grounded.

I grew up climbing the mountains of Colorado, fishing, hiking, camping. It's been really hard making the time to go back to that and now I have lung issues. But I wanted to share my experience from last October when I went with friends for a weekend and camped out.

I was little worried about my lungs since I have breathing problems (from smoking) but my soul was yearning for it so I decided to go. The aspen leaves had already begun to turn and it was breath taking. I could feel my creator's love as I looked upon the magnificent views of trees and lakes and rivers. There was even a little lake that had a beavers home and we could see them swimming about. We all had such a good time and I hadn't laughed that much in years!! I did have to stop often to catch my breath but my friends were very loving and had no problem waiting for me. I have suffered from chronic fatigue for years now and while I was there I never felt tired. In fact, it took about 5 days after I left before my tiredness crept back in. It was like my soul was rejuvenated.

Nature is something that is helping me to see that we are loved by God. Why else would we have such a beautiful place to be? Nature can be found anywhere you live and sometimes it might be harder to see where you are at, you can usually find it if you look hard enough (which I guess requires the desire).
